First Seizure Episode

I've never seen anyone having seizures. I do have several siblings younger than me and I looked after them when they were babies but never did I see them having one. My baby is running a fever of 101.8 since yesterday morning. All day she was just fine, playing when her temperature go down and want to be curled up when she is hot, that's it.

At almost eleven pm last night, I signed out from the computer and I had her with me sleeping in my arms, I put her down but then moments later she woke up and asking for UP. I took her out the crib, brought to the bed and guess what happen? It was the scariest and weirdest thing happened to her. I was still holding her in my arms when her eyes suddenly went to the left as if she was looking at something but she didn't, her whole body went limp, right hand was jerking and stayed like that for 2 minutes according to my husband.

I was panicking, we were both panicking because it was her very first time she had seizures. I told my husband we need to go to the hospital right away. So we landed in ER at Cook Children's Hospital at past 11 and yes she was still running a high fever. Geeeez it was all so scary and hope it won't happen again.

We made it home at almost two o'clock, so sleepy and worry no more because the doctor assured us it is common for children ages 6 months to three years to have seizures. Now I am like a dead person up and awake but floating because I got no enough sleep from last night.

Agay, ang caregiver baya mura wala kaagi ug First Aid!

Nakatabang ko ug nagtagik sa una bata mga 1 year old sa ER jud.Ako ra haplasan ug luke warm nga face cloth.Mao pod ingon doctor nga segihi lang haplas day.

Kung sa ako pod na with Shiela I would do the same, hasta ang training sa first aid limtan.Pero simbako lang,wa pa man pod maingon ana shiela.Shady ra over acting, hospital dayon basta naay bation.

i remember the first time that my daughter had one of those seizures. scared the crap out of me, her eyes rolled back and she started turning blue. i immediately took her to the emergency and they hooked up all kinds of wires to her. she was fine. the doctor told me that she would grow out of it, and she did. thank goodness she only had a couple of them. very scary thing to watch.

What an awful thing to witness for a mother, and terrible for a child to go through. My daughter did the same when she spiked a high fever due to an ear infection. Being a new mom, I brought the fever down too quickly, the doctor said. I learned, but it sure was scary.
